Went mostly smoothly - team was very fast and efficient. Nothing broke or was damaged in the end. The only objection I had was their default labeling of all our electronics (including a brand new flat screen 47" LG HDTV) as "used, broken, gauged, scraped" in their forms. When we asked about it, the 'head' mover became downright rude. He finally had to call his office and they convinced him to cross out those adjectives in their inventory. Estimate was ultimately too high. I have used them in the past for another move and was completely satisfied. TO my regret the lower priced movers we did use were a disaster. Would not make the same mistake again! Moving estimate
I would not use them again however. Again, at the end of the day it comes down to trust. With that foreman in charge of the move, I never felt confident that they weren't just charging me as much as possible. Next time, I'd rather choose a different mover. On the positive side, they showed up and moved my furniture on time without any damages. I paid them by the hour and had them include an upper cap ("Not to Exceed") on their price estimate. I was disappointed to learn upon seeking a quote for a cross-country move that the vendor only delivers occasionally to LA. Specifically, they told me that they have a truck going in July and a truck going in September. If you want deliver in August, too bad. If you're going to represent yourself as a nationwide move, you should provide services on par with truly national moving companies. If you can't, don't. I sought a quote from t his vendor.

I'm very sorry we cannot accommodate this move, but I feel it is better to tell the customer the math then to pick up furniture and then make excuses and have a late delivery. If I can help this customer in anyway, please contact our office!
They arrived on time for the pick up but did not communicate the delay on the drop off end. The person waiting on the furniture and myself had to call to see what the delay was. I feel that we should have been contacted as soon as they knew a delay was going to happen. This delayed other responsibilities for the day. The company moved my companies donated furniture from NYC to the Sandy hit area in Coney Island.
At the Queens Blvd. entry ramp cars were merging into traffic. I stopped to let a white car merge into traffic after which I started to move forward again, only to realize that a large truck had already also begun inching into the space before me (disobeying the rules of a proper merge). After the estimate, and cancelation of the requested time, I did not go ahead with the move. Called these movers to deliver 5 boxes, 1 easy chair, 1 table with 4 chairs and a platform bed (disassembled) to my son's apt. on east 93rd st., which is near their location. I requested a delivery date of 8/29/12, and was told that as soon as they could send someone to determine an estimate, the move would proceed. They were on time and on budget (exact to the penny). Very careful with my merchandise and very polite. The kind of people you want to do business with. I moved out of state and after reading all the rave reviews on Angie's List, I knew I would be hiring Big John's for my move.
