Big John's moved my 85 year old parents from their home of 50 years to an apartment. We knew we were in for a good experience when the employee (Nick) came to look around the house and give us the estimate. He arrived exactly on time and gave us some very good advice. He told us to pack as much as we could on our own and it would save us both time and money in the long run. A representative came to our home to assess the move and gave us a written estimate. On the day of the move there was torrentialrain and a mini tornado just a few blocks away. We required 2 large trucks and 8 men. Despite the weather, our movers were able to perform their jobs with diligence. My family is forever grateful for making such a difficult move pain free. I have enormous trust in this company, they have kept my items in storage. They take special care to contact me and make sure we remain on the same page. They are very easy to work with. The customer service is good. I hired this company during my recent move.
This is the 2nd time I have used this company and they were EXCELLENT again. I would highly recommend them! Self packed / In-town move: out of 5th floor walk-up into 6th floor walk-up (NO ELEVATOR)
Overall, it went very well, especially considering that we had less than one week's notice to plan and complete the move. Some advice... the more prepared the client is, the more accurate the bid can be. Also, if the client packs as many of theirown possessions as possible, the less time the movers have to spend on the job, and the lower the labor cost. They had to move a piano among other things and they did okay with that. They did a good job. They showed up on-time. They were efficient with their time. I moved within the same building so it didn't require a truck. They moved the big stuff from one apartment to another.
The whole move went extremely well We moved from NY to Maryland and we originally contact another company listed on Angieslist...moving man. They put us off for almost 3 weeks until it they finally said that they could not help us with the move. They also did not contact me as promised with an estimate and dates as they kept promising. See above This was a move from Brooklyn, NY to NJ. I first made an appointment for an estimate. They were right on time and the price quoted turned out to be the price I actually paid. They confirmed the moving date twice by telephone before the move. On moving day a team of 4 came and took only 2 hours to pack up a 2-bedroom, 1 1/2 bath apartment. Big John's was able to schedule an estimate very quickly (within a day or two of my initial call) and give me a written quote. Their quote was considerably less than that of other reputable vendors who also did estimates so we went with Big John's. They were just a little late showing up to do the move (about 15 minutes or so) but worked efficiently and professionally.
